Description
When a kid is prepared to go from liquid to solid food, a ceremony called annaparana, also known as “grain initiation or rice feeding,” is conducted. The child is typically given very little rice or sweet payasam to eat.
The ritual starts with a pooja, during which mantras are performed for the baby’s wellbeing. Next, the Prasada, or first bite of solid food, generally Payasa, is fed symbolically.
When to Perform Annaprasana?
- This ceremony is conducted on the 6th or 7th month.
- The date can be selected that is compatible with the Janma Nakshatra of the child on a good and an auspicious thithi and yoga.
