Nischitartham is the function where both the groom and bride agree to marry each other formally, with the consent of their parents, relatives, and elders in the family.

The event where the rings are exchanged before getting married is called the Nichayathartham (engagement) function. In front of their congruent families, the bride and groom make a formal public proclamation of their marriage. Elders and family members of the couple gather to officially announce the wedding date and time.

The engagement customs are quite important in creating a unique tie between the couple. By doing this, they make a commitment to one another to carry out their duties and demonstrate affection in all circumstances. The “Lagna Patrika,” or agreement letter, is written by the priest and read aloud in front of the entire family. Both family members’ signatures are obtained and recorded
